About Jocelyn

I am a certified Human Resources professional and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Throughout my career I have held leadership positions in HR and led high-performing teams.

 

Supporting non-profit, financial, and behavioral health organizations, I have developed and implemented mental health and wellness initiatives, created and facilitated workshops and trainings, and provided one-on-one strengths-based coaching. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Women & Gender Studies from Dartmouth College and a Master’s degree from Columbia University School of Social Work. My passion is helping to “make work work for people” and aligning the needs of the business with the needs of its employees.

 

I bring my people insight and experience to support leaders; foster inclusive cultures; release employee potential; and create people-centered workplaces where everyone can do their best work.

In this funny, straight-shooting session, we will uncover the root cause of employee bad behavior. Together we’ll explore how leadership styles and organizational systems can unintentionally incentivize employee disengagement, and what we can do to change it. Be a leader that brings out the best in your workforce.

If We Know Better, Why Don’t We Do Better? Combatting HR Burnout

When the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020 it presented unprecedented challenges for HR. HR navigated health mandates, drafted new policies, and cared for the emotional wellbeing of the workforce. We became counselors and coaches and compassionately tended to the stress our employees were experiencing.

 

And now we’re exhausted.

Why are we so good at giving self-care advice to others yet so bad at following the advice ourselves? If we know better, why don’t we do better?

In this session, I draw on my experience as an HR leader, clinical social worker, and recovering burnout to challenge the beliefs that keep us stuck and to learn to put our own oxygen masks on first.
